Choir booster club meets Wednesday

Sequim High School Booster Club meets at 7 p.m. tonight (Sept. 17) at the Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

Meeting topics include the club’s budget, calendar of events, fundraisers and special concerts, the first being the Seattle Gospel Choir slated for 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the same building.

Choir director Stephanie Clark is scheduled to explain student expectations, including participation, adjudications, lettering and to talk about the new Swing Choir.

English as second

language classes

start in September

Students who need help with their English reading, writing and speaking skills will be able to choose the site and time that works best for them when Peninsula College’s ESL classes start in Port Angeles on Sept. 22.

Classes meet 8-10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday in Room H5 on the college campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., and 6-9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Resident Family Center at 2620 S. Francis St.

Classroom experiences emphasize practice in reading, writing, speaking, listening, pronunciation and interaction skills.

County fair organizers seek royalty

scholarship applicants

Applications for the 2009 Clallam County Fair Royalty Scholarship program are available at all high schools on the Olympic Peninsula, including Olympic Christian School and Peninsula College.

The program is a one-year commitment with county fair dates set for Aug. 20-23. The program is open to any high school student age 16 or older involved in school, including Running Start students. Applicants do not have to be members of 4-H or FFA.

Application deadline is Oct. 16.

Hanson, Wilson

get WSU degrees

Aaron Michael Hanson and Janice Lee Wilson, both of Sequim, received degrees from Washington State University following summer quarter 2008.

Hanson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology while Wilson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in human development.
