Sequim students
make WSU honor roll
Nine former Sequim High School students were named to the Washington State University honor roll for fall quarter.
They are Stacia Linette Bibler, Rosalynd Jean Billes, Tricia Marie E. Duenas-Harris, Derrick Jerome Eberle, Lin He, Jaysa Jo Hill, Valerye Frances Huff, Danielle Brooke Knapman and Marielle Elizabeth Lopes.
To be named to WSU’s honor roll, an undergraduate student must earn a grade-point average of 3.75 in at least nine graded hours or a 3.50 GPA based on at least 15 cumulative hours of graded work.
U.W. honor roll lists 11 Sequim academic stars
Several Sequim student were named to the University of Washington honor roll for fall quarter.
They are seniors Morgan Victor Carl, Yung-Chun Chen, Samuel Ryan Ketcham, Katrina Luise Mendizza, Stephen R. Printz, Brian Jacob Slattery, Jennifer Lisa Tivald and Robert Emmett Watters; junior Sarah Marie Mangiameli; and sophomores Ian Jeffrey Austin and Shane R. Dinius.
To qualify for U.W.’s dean’s list, a student must have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 with at least 12 graded credits.

nominations open
Sequim School District has an open nomination for students in grades three-seven who may qualify for highly capable services. The nomination period is open until Jan. 28.
Nomination forms are available at each Sequim school or online at the district Web site www.sequim.k12.wa.us.
Completed forms need to be returned to school offices, classroom teachers or to Bonnie Bless-Boenish, Highly Capable Program coordinator, at Sequim Community School (220 W. Alder St.) by 4 p.m. Jan. 28.
Students being provided highly capable services will continue to receive services and need not be nominated again.
Highly capable students, also known as "gifted" students, perform or show potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others at their age, experience or environment. These students may demonstrate exceptionally high intellectual ability, memory, creativity, curiosity and leadership ability.
The identification procedures used by the Sequim School District have been developed to conform to state guidelines and are used by other Washington school districts.

Development
screenings available
The special services staff of Sequim School District No. 323 conducts ongoing developmental screening for children ages birth through 21 who live in the Sequim School District, are not attending school and who may be delayed in one or more of the following areas: cognitive, communication, fine motor, gross motor, social/emotional, adaptive skills, and/or health impairments. The screening’s purpose is to identify developmental delays that may affect a child’s performance in school. The intervention program offers the child and their family a connection to appropriate services, education and information.
Include the child’s name, birth date, age, mailing address and telephone number.
