Scouts to retire flags

On Saturday, April 30, uniformed Cub Scouts from Sequim will be collecting worn American flags at the Sequim Safeway from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

All collected flags are provided a proper, solemn retirement ceremony at the Pack 4490 Spring Campout.

This service is provided at no cost as part of the Scouts’ “Do a Good Turn For America” effort. The Scouts from Pack 4490 request that anyone with a worn American flag take this opportunity to ensure that the flag will receive a traditional, proper retirement ceremony and bring the flag to the Sequim Safeway on April 30.

Last year’s event was the most successful flag retirement effort ever by the Sequim Cub Scouts. More than 40 worn and tattered American flags were collected in Sequim and retired solemnly by the Scouts.
