A second Sequim resident was arrested last week in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a Sequim motel in January.

On March 10, 36-year-old David Allen Poole was arrested without incident for first-degree robbery, second-degree theft and criminal conspiracy.

Poole was wanted in connection with the Jan. 29 robbery at the Sequim West Motel after an investigation led law enforcement to believe he was the gunman in the robbery, Sequim Police Department officials said.

Sequim police allege that Poole and an accomplice robbed a man of drugs and other items worth about $2,000.

Poole was arrested by the Washington State Patrol on a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 101 near Sequim Bay State Park.

The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will consider filing formal charges.

On Feb. 2, 21-year-old Shelby Ann Schleve surrendered to lawn enforcement; she was arrested and subsequently charged in Clallam County Superior Court with robbery in the first degree and theft in the second degree.

Schleve pleaded not guilty Feb. 5 to first-degree robbery and second-degree theft.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 29, an alleged robbery victim reported a person he knew knocked on the door of his room at about 3:45 a.m. When he answered the door, an armed man the victim did not know entered the room and demanded money and valuables. Court documents indicate the items were worth about $2,000.

The suspect was armed with a smaller handgun, police officials said, though no shots were fired.

After collecting the victim’s money and other items of some value, the pair fled the room leaving the victim in the room alone. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Schleve sentenced in theft case

Schleve of Sequim was sentenced March 9 to 10 days in jail following a Clallam County jury verdict finding her guilty of third degree theft.

According to court records, Walmart security caught Schleve selecting merchandise valued at $60, removing the packaging, putting the merchandise under her coat and then exiting the store without paying.

Schleve, 21, was sentenced by Clallam County District Court Pro Tem Judge Lawrence Freedman.

Schleve also has pending first-degree robbery and second-degree theft charges in Clallam County Superior Court, Clallam County Prosecutor Mark Nichols said.
