Clallam County Treasurer Teresa Marchi is reminding taxpayers that 2018’s second half property taxes are due next week.
Property tax payments must be postmarked or dropped off at the Clallam County Courthouse by Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Mail dropped in a U.S. postal mailbox on that date may result in a postmark of Nov. 1 and will be considered delinquent, Marchi said. To ensure a timely postmark, she advises taxpayers have a post office official hand stamp their envelope(s).
Those who require a receipt are asked to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope; a receipt will be mailed in return.
The lone tax payment drop-off location is within the circular drive at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The Treasurer’s Office accepts most credit and debit cards, either at the Treasurer’s Office counter or www.clallam.net/Treasurer; a convenience fee will be charged by the credit and/or debit card provider.
Payments postmarked or dropped off at the County courthouse after Oct. 31 are subject to a1 percent interest charge in November. On Dec. 1, an additional 1 percent charge and an 8 percent penalty is added.
