Sequim student Tyler Braithwaite, 17, died Sunday evening in a truck crash off Lost Mountain Road, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
He was the son of the Clallam County commissioners administrative assistant Tammy Sullenger.
Two passengers were injured in the crash: Rachel Myers, 18, of Port Angeles, and Michael Fleming, 16, of Sequim.
Myers was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with leg and facial injuries. She was listed in satisfactory condition Monday afternoon.
Fleming was taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles with a broken wrist and cuts to his face.
Braithwaite was driving a Ford F-250 pickup on Forest Service Road 2875 in the Slab Camp area Sunday when he swerved to avoid a deer and struck a tree.
Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Cameron said an investigation is continuing but alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.
Crash investigators worked all night and needed several tow trucks, including a special boom truck, to remove the crashed truck, he said.
