Sequim family takes flight at Comic Con

For the fourth year, the Patterson family of Sequim dressed up as pop culture characters and attended Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. This year they dressed as X-wing pilots from “Star Wars” with “Top Gun” helmets.

“The idea for this year was a combination of our family’s love of “Star Wars” along with our 80’s movie nostalgia,” mom/wife Danielle Patterson said. “Merging two different types of pilots together made sense.”

Husband/dad Jake Patterson designed and constructed the costumes including the web harnesses, control boxes and customized the helmets over a few months for himself, Danielle and daughters Hannah, 19, and Madeline, 17.

“We started purchasing the components before the holidays and then converted the family and dining rooms into a construction zone once the holiday decorations were put away,” Danielle said.

Emerald City Comic Con ran March 14-17. For more information, visit www.emeraldcitycomiccon.com.
