Sequim High grads honored for food bank service

As a “thank you” for their service at the Sequim Food Bank and to celebrate graduating from high school the night before, five Sequim High graduates were honored on June 20 by board member Stephen Rosales and his wife Kim.

The Rosales family gave $100 each to Brianna Cowan, Caden Habner, Gabby Happe, Abbee Jagger and Kimberly Perez.

The teens have managed volunteer efforts on Saturdays at the food bank, 144 W. Alder St., for more than 10 years, with Habner volunteering for eight years, Happe and Jagger four years, Perez for two years, and Cowan since March.

Perez said she started volunteering as a commitment for school and kept doing it because “I wanted to help my community and get involved (and) I like to talk to people, spend time with my friends, and I like to keep myself busy,” she said.

The food bank is open 9 a.m.-noon on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1-4 p.m. Mondays.
