Fiddling may not be the latest music craze but it was well represented at Sequim High School’s annual talent show March 20-21.

In a tie for first place at the community-judged show Friday night, Joey Gish’s "The Jamming Salmon" fiddling tied with Michael Cullinan’s (fiddle) and Dalton Ackley’s (acoustic guitar) version of "Chickamauga," an ode to the Civil War-era Battle of Chickamauga, for top honors.

First runner-up was the Bandroom Boys, a lip-synching parody of the Backstreet Boys by Jerry Anzanza, James Finnen, Joey Hall, Derrell Jensen and Reed Omdal.

Second runner-up honors went to Stephanie Dunbar for her rendition of Claude Debussy’s "Children’s Corner" on piano.

On Saturday night, the Bandroom Boys earned the fan’s choice top honor. Andrew Law, Steven Alves and the class of 2009 seniors took second place with Lion King-inspired rap, "Que Pasa Mufasa." Third place for the fans was a tie: Alves’ tune "Born on a Plane" shares the ranking with Zach Sisco and Kawika Yasamura for their dance version of the YouTube wonder, "Evolution of Dance."

The show featured 21 acts varying from tap dancing and opera singers to rock bands, a hip-hop dance, duets and more.
