Sequim man hurt in Highway 101 wreck

A Sequim man was treated and discharged from Jefferson Healthcare hospital after a Brinnon woman fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the centerline and hit his car on Jan. 21, the State Patrol said.

Jonathon H. Henrickson, 73, was taken to the Port Townsend hospital after the 4:51 p.m. wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Quilcene.

Theresa A. Corey, 53, was not hurt, troopers said. She was cited for negligent driving.

The State Patrol said that Corey, traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 101, fell asleep while driving. Her car crossed the centerline into the northbound lanes and struck the car driven by Henrickson in the side.

Henrickson’s car rolled over while Corey’s car came to rest in a northbound ditch, troopers said.

Both cars were completely destroyed, the State Patrol said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. No drugs or alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.
