Washington State Patrol reports a Sequim man died in a wreck in Kingston on Wednesday night.

Benjamin Macqueen, 28, of Sequim was reported dead on scene at 7:47 p.m. on March 11 after he allegedly drove over the center line at the intersection of Parcell Road and State Route 104.

He was traveling west in his 1994 Toyota Camry on the highway and struck James Norberg, 53, of Kingston, who was driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee east towards Parcell Road with an unidentified 14-year-old girl from Kingston.

Washington State Patrol reports both vehicles rotated counterclockwise after the collision with Norberg and the girl’s vehicle resting on the eastbound shoulder and Macqueen in the center of the intersection.

Trooper Russ Winger said both Norberg and the girl are recovering at Harborview Medical Center.

As of Thursday night, Winger said it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck and that Macqueen’s sobriety is being tested.

Drug paraphernalia was found in Macqueen’s car, Winger said.

None of the three people involved were wearing seat belts.

“The fact that none of the three was belted in is also concerning,” Winger said. “‎That alone could have lessened injuries and possibly saved his life.”

In July 2014, Macqueen was airlifted to Harborview after his 1989 Honda Civic collided with a semi truck near Discovery Bay after he allegedly crossed the center line. He was arrested for DUI with pending court dates.
