A 34-year-old registered sex offender was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, Sequim Police Department officials said last week.

Officers arrested Charles David Gahimer on Jan. 6 and he is being held in the Clallam County Jail on a $130,000 bail.

Sequim Police said the incident occurred in a home Gahimer and the victim, a 6-year-old boy, lived in together in the 800 block of East Alder Street.

A search warrant served on the suspect’s room yielded over a dozen pieces of digital evidence which will be forensically examined in the coming weeks, Sequim Police officials said.

As the investigation continues, additional charges are expected to be filed, they said.

Detective Sgt. Sean Madison said officials with the department believe the people who lived in the same home as Gahimer — specifically, the witness and the victim’s father — did not know the suspect was convicted sex offender.
