Sequim Safety Fair offers information, services

The Sequim Police Department and Clallam County Fire District 3 host the sixth Sequim Public Safety Fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Guy Cole Community Center in Carrie Blake Park in Sequim.

The theme is Home Preparedness.

Exhibitors provide information about preparing the home for natural disasters, medical emergencies, fires or break-ins. Information and assistance on residents’ needs — ranging from Medicare and other senior issues to juvenile services — is presented.

Services offered include a child safety seat clinic.

Emergency and support vehicles and staff from the fire district, the police department and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office will be present and Sequim K-9 Chase and his handler give demonstrations.

At 11 a.m., U.S. Coast Guard members will land a search and rescue helicopter outside the community center and the crew will answer questions. At 2 p.m., the helicopter crew will make a simulated rescue hoist before returning to base.

Call the Sequim Police Department, 683-7227, with questions.
