On Tuesday, May 14, Dr. Carol Bernthal presents her program, “Marine Protection Areas in Indonesia,” at the Sequim Science Café, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Paradise Restaurant, 703 N. Sequim Ave.

Bernthal is superintendent of the NOAA Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and a member of the National Marine Sanctuary Program Leadership Team. During her career as a biologist, she has represented a number of agencies working extensively with both civil and tribal governments on a variety of conservation issues and natural resource management projects.

“Dr. Bernthal brings a great depth of experience to our local Science Café program which our Sequim audience will truly enjoy,” SEF Science Café director Jodi Olson said.

“In addition to Dr. Bernthal’s presentation, we’re going to have a big surprise for the high school robotics team as a result of their appearance at the Café last month.”

The Science Café is a community service of the Sequim Education Foundation. Programs present expert speakers for adult and young adult audiences interested in current developments in science and technology.

Admission is free. Food and beverages are available. The public is encouraged to come and enjoy an exhilarating evening of informal discussion.
