Sequim Super Kids: Local teen shines as scholar, leader and aspiring author

Seventeen-year-old Sabrina Herbelin, a senior at Sequim High School, is an exceptional young leader achieving success both in and out of the classroom.

A proud member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula for the past eight years, Sabrina is currently enrolled in the Running Start program and is on track to graduate in June 2026 with both her high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree from Peninsula College. She maintained a 3.8 GPA during her junior year and dreams of attending Brighton University in England to study English.

For the past two years, Sabrina has served as president of Keystone Club, a premier Boys & Girls Clubs of America leadership program that empowers teens to lead community service projects, explore career paths, and engage in civic activities. Her dedication to leadership through volunteering at Club events such as Souper Saturday is matched by her creative accomplishments.

Under the pen name Deo “Oak” Herbelin, Sabrina recently published her debut novel and is now in the early stages of writing her second novel. She also operates a small business — GoldenOaks13 — creating custom trinkets such as keychains and stickers inspired by characters from her books, offering readers a unique way to carry and share a piece of the story.

In addition to her literary success, Sabrina has written her first original play, which she hopes will premiere later this year during the New Works showcase that features local playwrights at Olympic Theatre Arts.

With her academic achievements, creative pursuits, and commitment to community leadership, Sabrina is constantly striving to meet her full potential.

Please join the Sequim Gazette in celebrating the achievements of Sabrina Herbelin, one of Sequim’s Super Kids.
