More elbow room will make shopping a lot more fun at both Serenity House of Clallam County thrift stores, where all profits go to help homeless people in the community. Construction is slated to begin in November to make the Sequim Serenity Shop’s retail space 35 percent larger.
"We’ll keep operating our usual hours, weekdays 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., right through the construction," said Evelyn Barnes, manager of the store at 215 N. Sequim Ave.
The Port Angeles Thrift Store has been rearranged.
The construction in Sequim will add three new housing units to the adjacent apartment building.
The Horne Building, on the corner of Sequim Ave. and Cedar St., will go from a capacity of 11 units of affordable or subsidized housing to 14. The new units will be located on the second floor, above the new first floor retail space that will fill the vacant lot between the two structures.
