Certified Veterans Service officers are now keeping regular hours at Serenity House Housing Resource Centers — called HRCs for short. Disabled American Veterans volunteers John Joseph, Derrell Sharp and Rob Brooke “assist and advise military veterans and their dependents through the maze of paperwork for the benefits they were promised,” according to Sharp.
Sharp and Joseph recently delivered a $500 check to Virginia Klein, Housing Resource coordinator in Sequim. The funds will help support Serenity House’s Housing Resource Centers, which provide the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 Service officers space in Sequim and Port Angeles to meet with veterans and their dependents who need assistance to obtain the government benefits they earned through their service.
The DAV Service officers are available on a walk-in basis, each Wednesday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the HRCs at 583 W. Washington St., Sequim, and 535 E. First St. Port Angeles. Appointments are unnecessary, but may be made by special request by leaving a message at either HRC. Call the Sequim HRC at 477-4918 or the Port Angeles HRC at 565-5041.
