‘Small Talk’

Peninsula writer to perform in P.A.

It has been a busy year for Port Townsend writer Mary Lou Sanelli.

Earlier in 2008, a collection of Sanelli’s essays, "Falling Awake," was released and critically acclaimed. Instead of taking a break, she immediately followed with "Small Talk," her eighth collection of

poetry. A staged reading of her book "An Immigrant’s Tale" is set to open by the end of the year and Sanelli’s first memoir, "Among Friends," is set to release in spring 2009.

Instead of resting on her laurels, Sanelli is coming to the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for a performance that includes a video, dance and dramatic reading.

"(Sanelli’s) engaging and dynamic stage presence … stresses performance as strongly as her literature," writes Port Angeles Fine Arts Center director Jake Seniuk in the center newsletter.

Admission to the performance, which will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, is $8 for the general public and $6 for center members.
