State picks subagent for Sequim licensing office

Sequim will get a new licensing subagency in eight to 10 weeks and the subagent is a familiar face.

Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand said Suzan (Ulin) Mansfield had a subagency in Sequim prior to Karen Shewbert, whose contract was terminated in May.

For family reasons, Mansfield gave up the business to take a position with the City of Sequim and later with the Department of Transportation, Rosand said.

“She did an excellent job serving the citizens of Sequim in the past and I am sure she will in the future,” Rosand said.

“Her family is now grown and she can devote full time to running the business.”

Rosand said Mansfield and a yet-to-be-determined employee will begin training as soon as next week and it will take another eight to 10 weeks for the state Department of Licensing to assemble the necessary infrastructure to allow the business to open.

The business will be called Sequim Licensing Depot and is planned to be located at 645 W. Washington St., Rosand said. Large trucks and RVs will have plenty of parking in the JC Penney lot and along Seventh Avenue.

Additionally, the building is accessible for citizens with disabilities.

“We are excited that this appointment has been approved by the director of DOL and that we are one step further in restoring service to Sequim customers,” Rosand said.
