The latest exhibition in the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s ongoing showcase series dedicated to the artists of the Juan de Fuca region, Strait Art 2009, returns from March 22-May 10.
All artists with homes or studios in Clallam and Jefferson counties are eligible.
"This year we are casting a wider net to include performances as well as artworks with the new ‘Enter Stage Left’ series," said Jake Seniuk, center director and curator.
"In a series of Friday night live shows throughout the exhibition’s run, we’ll provide a stage for musical, literary and theatrical presenters amid the art on the walls and pedestals."
Strait Art isn’t a competition. No entry fees are collected and no prizes are awarded.
Some Strait Art "discoveries" have had more in-depth exhibitions at the center or other Northwest venues.
"We are looking for original visions, well-developed style and a mastery over materials in any medium that can be successfully installed in the Webster House or the immediate surrounding grounds," Seniuk said.
"Each artist will be represented by up to four works, enough to convey a honed and established vision."
Visual artists can submit 10-20 images of their best work. Of those, at least four should be available for the show.
Digital images are preferred, but prints and slides are acceptable.
Performing artists (musicians, actors, comedians, poets, raconteurs, undefinables) should submit a demo CD, tape or other appropriate documentation of their act.
All artists must include a résumé or short biography. Relevant press clippings, reviews and artist’s statements are optional.
E-mail application materials to pafac@olypen.com – which is preferred – or drop off or mail them to PAFAC, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, WA 98362.
If materials must be returned by mail, submit a stamped,
pre-addressed envelope.
Deadline for entry is Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Early submission is encouraged.
