Students ‘Read Across America’ in Sequim

One book, two books, plenty of books for Sequim students — on Read Across America Day.

Sequim Middle and High School students returned to elementary classrooms on March 2 for the annual birthday celebration of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. Upper grades last visited classrooms in March 2020.

In the morning, high school students visited Helen Haller Elementary School classrooms, reading everything from “Bad Kitty” to “Curious George” to “Dog Man.”

That afternoon, eighth-graders from Sequim Middle School were bused to Greywolf Elementary School to read books, draw pictures of Thing 1 and 2 from “The Cat in the Hat,” and collaborate on worksheets.

Sponsored by the National Education Association, Read Across America offers year-round resources for families at readacrossamerica.org.
