The Drop, new youth services drop-in center, opens March 6

Serenity House of Clallam County is hosting a grand opening for The Drop, Clallam County’s new youth services drop-in center from 3-7 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the cent’er’s location at First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.

The event includes a ribbon cutting and a silent auction art/bake sale to benefit youth programs that begins at 3 p.m., with winners announced at 7 p.m.

Serenity House representatives say the facility “connects homeless youth and young adults ages 12-24 with the vital resources and services that they need to overcome their housing situation, obtain employment, and make plans for a rich and fulfilling future.”

Operating out of the western wing of First United Methodist Church, The Drop will also be a place of rest, to connect with peers and to find mentorship from staff and formerly homeless youth advocates.

Leading the facility will be Director of Youth Services Jennifer Mobley.

“Our team is over the moon to be able to open this space to youth and young adults,” Mobley said in a press release. “We have some exciting opportunities for our clients to access support groups and services not readily available in our community. Since we know our youth are the future, why wait to invest in them, lets provide them a safe place and resources to start rebuilding their own lives.”
