The Clallam County Health Department confirms a 43-year-old man who had direct contact with Port Angeles’ first case, a man in his 50s who has since recovered, tested positive for the measles.

He was quarantined on Feb. 5 and his infectious period occurred during the quarantine so he had no public contact.

Dr. Jeanette Stehr-Green, Clallam County Health Officer, said the 43-year-old man’s adherence to quarantine, daily reports to Public Health nurses and his cooperation were key in preventing public exposure. Four other tested samples from Clallam County were negative.

Last week, a 5-year-old, unvaccinated girl tested positive to measles and remains in quarantine while 12 of her fellow students at Olympic Christian School in Port Angeles were quarantined for not being vaccinated. Read more about her case here.
