The third Clallam County Magic: The Gathering Championship takes place noon on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Anime Kat, 114 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game where players buy, sell and trade cards representing fictional spells, artifacts and creatures to build custom decks to combat other players. Released originally in 1993, it has expanded to include an organized tournament system with different formats and a community of professional players.

The Clallam County Magic: The Gathering Championship is modern deck format with a $30 registration fee for players. Spectators have free admission.

This year’s event sponsors from Port Angeles are Anime Kat, Mark’d Body Art and Northwest Fudge and Confections; sponsors have contributed $1,500 in prizes.
