Unique visitor comes to Sherwood Assisted Living

Eli, one of 5,000 camels in the United States, recently came to Sherwood Assisted Living in Sequim to meet the residents and staff. They had numerous questions for Becky Northhaven (above, with friend John Graham), Eli’s owner and leading camel expert in the United States. Northhaven said that Eli has the problem-solving skills of a pre-school child, weighs 1,500 pounds and is 8 feet tall. He is 9 years old but can live to be 40-50 years old. Eli is a lifetime investment. Eli’s favorite treats are carrots and soda pop, which he takes from Northhaven at every opportunity. Activity director April Oldfield knew she had to have Eli visit when she saw him in the newspaper. She knew Eli would be a hit with the residents and staff.
