Events in Sequim and Port Angeles this weekend are giving community members a chance to “Live United.”
The United Way of Clallam County hosts events in both communities as part of its 2016 campaign to raise at least $800,000 for local organizations.
In Sequim, United Way hosts volunteer efforts from 9 a.m.-noon at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., and at the Sequim YMCA starting at 1 p.m.
In Port Angeles, United Way puts on volunteer projects at the Dream playground, Port Angeles High School, at Buddy Benches at Roosevelt and Jefferson Elementary schools, at the “Welcome to Port Angeles” sign on Lincoln Street and a painting project with Serenity House.
United Way recently accepted a donation for $5,250 from the US Bank Foundation. (US Bank staff will be helping with Day of Caring on Sept. 10 at the Dream playground with local Kiwanis and Rotary clubs and City of Port Angeles volunteers.)
“We were thrilled to receive this donation from US Bank because we are heading into our annual campaign and this check is a great start,” Christy Smith, resource development manager for the United Way, said. “The community has embraced the campaign this year and we’ve already started speaking to service clubs and getting information out about our partner agencies,” continued Smith.
