Veterans Day school assemblies set
Sequim schools honor veterans with ceremonies scheduled for Nov. 10 and Nov. 12.
At 8:30 a.m. today, Nov. 10, Sequim Middle School (301 W. Hendrickson Road) hosts a Veterans Day program beginning at 8:30 a.m. Call 582-3500.
Also today, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Greywolf Elementary School (171 Carlsborg Road) hosts programs for veterans. Call 582-3300. Also, Helen Haller Elementary School (350 W. Fir St.) hosts assemblies at 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Call 582-3200.
On Friday, Nov. 12, Sequim High School (601 N. Sequim Ave.) hosts a Veterans Day program beginning at 10 a.m. Call 582-3600.
Coast Guard honors vets
The Clallam County Veterans Day Ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the U.S. Coast Guard Base in Port Angeles.
Guest speaker is Colleen McAleer.
The ceremony has a special focus on Gulf War veterans.
Warm clothes for veterans
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home and Crematory is collecting new or gently used sweaters, gloves and warm clothing to donate to Clallam County veterans in need.
Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Nov. 12, at Drennan and Ford Funeral Home & Crematory, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Veterans forum
A free forum “Challenges for Returning Veterans and Their Families” will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the VFW Hall, 216 S. Francis St., Port Angeles.
Robert Perry, LICSW, and Katijean Thorpe, LICSW, will speak. Both are from Peninsula Community Mental Health Center, which is sponsoring the forum with The Disabled American Veterans.
