Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer a six-week Community & Volunteer Education Series in Sequim beginning April 10 and concluding May 15.
Classes will be held from 1-3 p.m. Fridays at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.
Classes include the following:
• April 10. Introduction to Hospice (Marilyn Nelsen, PhD, Volunteer Services Manager); “Pioneers of Hospice,” a documentary film.
• April 17. Attitudes toward Death and Dying. Consider the Conversation (DVD, first half); “Patients as Mentors” (Bette Wood, RN, Patient Care Manager).
• April 24. Attitudes toward Death and Dying. Consider the Conversation (DVD, second half); Group discussion.
• May 1. The Gifts of Grief (DVD); The Grieving Process (Debby Smith, RN, Sequim Grief Support Group Facilitator).
• May 8. Becoming a Hospice Volunteer; Lessons for the Living (DVD)
• May 15. Putting it All Together. Self-Care for Volunteers, summary, discussion and evaluation (Astrid Raffinpeyloz, MA).
