Volunteers, cadets prep for emergencies

Volunteer adult officers and cadets of the Dungeness Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) get in some emergency services training activity at Robin Hill County Park on March 17. 2d Lt. Jake Patterson, who in his day job is assistant chief for Clallam Fire District No. 2 (Port Angeles), shows cadets the proper use of a backboard. Later that day, cadets and adult officers worked with a direction finder for locating emergency location transmitters — a “hide and seek” activity with a practice ELT beacon. The group meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the Sequim Middle School cafeteria, 301 W. Hendrickson Road. For more information, see gocivilairpatrol.com and dungeness.wawg.cap.gov.
