Volunteers sought to help plant trees at Salmon Creek

The North Olympic Salmon Coalition is seeking volunteers to native plant trees at Salmon Creek from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Jan. 6 and 7.

The planting will occur on two separate locations on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Snow/Salmon Wildlife Area.

The creek sections where planting will occur are critical reaches for summer chum salmon. The planting, event organizers say, is intended to supplement a previously planted riparian area to ensure its success.

The total planting will encompass about one acre of riparian habitat.

The planting is a family-friendly event, children are invited to participate.

Parking is limited.
