Sequim Bay Yacht Club "Reach for Hospice" race Sept. 20 helped raise $25,094 for Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.

Since the first race in 1992, race organizers and participants have raised more than $130,000 for the hospice organization.

"This event is the major event for the club and we want to give back to the community that we live in," publicity chairwoman Susan Sorensen said.

Though the race was organized to raise funds for hospice, there is an element of competition to it all. This year, Bob McClinton’s Weigh To Go won the B division and, with corrected times, won out over all boats in both A and B divisions.

A total of 14 boats started the race and 11 completed the course. Pteron finished second, Myrrh was third and Orange Blossom Special was fourth.
