Dianne Walsh

July 25, 1944 - May 18, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dianne Carol Walsh, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away at the age of 80 on May 18, 2025 in Seattle, Washington, due to complications following cardiac surgery.

Born in Burbank, California, in July 1944 to Walter and Ruby Sappenfield, Dianne’s life was a testament to her compassionate spirit and unwavering faith. She attended Simpson Bible College in San Francisco and later earned her nursing degree from Sacramento State. This education laid the foundation for a lifetime of service to others.

Dianne’s professional life was as rich and varied as it was dedicated. She served as a hospital nurse in Portland, Oregon, and later as a beloved school nurse in Sacramento, California. A devout Christian, her faith called her to serve as a missionary team member in Brazil. In Sacramento, she was fondly remembered as the organizer of “Backyard Bible Clubs,” creating a joyful and nurturing space for neighborhood children. Upon moving to Sequim, Washington, she became an active and integral part of her community, serving as a deaconess and small group leader at her church.

Dianne was a woman of many passions. She loved to lose herself in a good book, create beautiful drawings with oil pastels, and embark on walks and day trips to explore the beauty of her surroundings. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She adored playing games with her six grandchildren, creating memories that they will treasure forever.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Joe Walsh, in 2020. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her three sons, Joel (Elizabeth) of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Daniel (Jennifer) of Sacramento, California, and Drew (Becky) of West Richland, Washington; her sister, Patricia; her nieces Tami and Shawna; and her six loving grandchildren Anne, Chase, Jonah, Skye, Mady, and Selah. Dianne was an amazing mother and a true friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, grace, and devotion.

A service to celebrate Dianne’s life will be held at Sequim Community Church at 2:00 PM on July 19th.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered to the Shipley Center of Sequim, WA, an organization that supports the local community she held so dear.
