Garry R. Wegener

Garry R. Wegener passed away on January 30, 2016, at the age of 84. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 28, 1931, to Roland and Edith Wegener in Berlin, Germany.

Garry left Germany in the mid 50’s, living and working in Canada, the Bahamas and in Puerto Rico. With his wife Karin and their two children Ellen and Michael, the family immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s and for the next 30 years Garry worked in the automotive field.

He started his career working as a manager for a Santa Monica, California Mercedes dealership and then moved on to own a successful auto body repair facility in the same area.

After his retirement in 1990, he and his family moved to Sequim, Washington and have enjoyed the peacefulness of the Olympic Peninsula.

His family and friends will remember his never ending smile, laughter and his good heart. He was a quiet, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His greatest joy was his family and those he called friends.

He is survived by Karin, his wife of 58 years; his daughter Ellen Shanks (Rodney); son Michael Wegener (Carol); his sisters Hildy Leger and Renate Ortmann; his grandchildren Jennifer Sweeney (Timothy), Andrew Shanks, Garry Wegener (Kailey), Joe Molina (Stephanie), Monica Molina and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request there will be no services.
