Laurine L. Cooper-McGrew

1934-2025

Laurine Cooper-McGrew was born July 8, 1934, in Port Orchard, WA to the late Raymond Ziegler and Jean Romaine. Laurine was received with open arms and raised by Mae Ziegler (stepmother) at the young age of three.

She accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful her entire life.

Laurine married Henry V. Henning (Hank) on April 16, 1951, and unto this union, eight children were born. They made their home in Port Angeles and the Fairview community. Tragically, Hank was called home to Jesus after eighteen and half years of wedding bliss.

She married Richard C. McGrew on July 3, 1970. She and the children moved to Goldendale, WA where they farmed and raised Polled Herford cattle. She was widowed after seventeen years of marriage.

On October 18, 1988, Laurine married a long-time family friend, Col. (Ret.) Willam J Cooper. After just two and half short years of marriage, Bill too was called home.

After Bill’s death, Laurine moved back to Goldendale. While there she met and married Maurice Hathaway. They spent many years traveling and splitting their time between their homes in Goldendale and Quartzsite, AZ.

Later, they would move back to Sequim, because of medical reasons. She was widowed for the final time after ten years of marriage on August 4, 2007

Laurine stayed active as a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Shipley Senior Center.

In July of 2023, she moved to Clarksville, TN with her daughter and husband. There she enjoyed traveling, spa days and eating out until her death on June 14, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mae Ziegler. Four husbands, Henry Henning, Richard McGrew, William Cooper and Maurice Hathway. Two children, Terry Lee Henning and Patty Jo Rishworth (Tinker), two grandchildren, Brian K Duncan and Gary Lee Henning Jr. (Booner).

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lila Walker (Jerry) of Sequim, WA, Larry Henning (Tamy) of Arlington, WA, Donald Henning (Cheryl) of Mossyrock, WA, Donna Johnson (Tyree) of Clarksville, TN, Julie Hedin (Randy) of Shelton, WA, Gary Henning (Mona) of Tehachapi, CA. Twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There was a celebration of life on Aug. 9 at Faith Lutheran Church, 382 W. Cedar St, Sequim.
