In Loving Memory of Leland S. White
A Life of Kindness, Dedication, and Joy
Leland S. White, age 89, of Sequim, WA, passed away on November 4, 2025, due to heart complications. Born February 22, 1936, in Thayne, WY, to Orlan and Laura White, Lee was one of ten siblings raised on a hardworking family farm. He met his beloved wife, Janice, in high school, and together they shared a lifelong romance until her passing in 2017.
Lee was a passionate educator, teaching Math and Biology in Pocatello, Idaho and then also Chemistry in Yakima, WA at Eisenhower and West Valley High Schools. As technology and computers developed, he played a pioneering role in introducing Computer Science to his students and peers. He coached and inspired countless young athletes with his signature enthusiasm and positivity, later serving as Athletic and Activities Director in school administration.
After moving to Sequim in 2014, Lee became an active leader at Dominion Terrace Condo’s HOA, known for his ideas, commitment, and focus on relationships. He cherished golf, sharing many rounds with friends and family, locally in Sequim, while traveling on road trips and even in Scotland.
Lee is remembered as a loving father to Tammy White and Pam Nelson, proud grandfather to Alex Dukes, Aliy Nelson, and Andy Nelson, and joyful great-grandfather to Caden Jaymes Dukes. He brought playfulness, encouragement, and wisdom to his family.
Survived by sisters Phyllis Bendixsen and Oleta Hunter, sisters-in-law Linda Treloar and Lela White, and many nieces and nephews, Lee’s legacy is one of kindness, optimism, and support for youth. A Celebration of Life will be held in early 2026. In lieu of flowers, consider “Planting a Tree” in Lee’s honor or donating to Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington or The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Links to these are available on Bradley-Kosec Funeral Home site https://www.bradley-kosec.com/obituaries/leland-white, where you can also see an expanded obituary and share a memory, note or photo in the online Guestbook.
Lee’s contagious laugh, caring spirit, and love of life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
