Mark Daryl Cameron

June 3, 1950 – January 24, 2015

Born on June 3, 1950 in Port Angeles, Washington, Mark Daryl Cameron passed away quietly at the age of 64 on January 24, 2015 after battling diabetes for over 30 years.

?Mark attended Sequim schools until moving to California at the age of eleven.

He continued to reside in Visalia, California until moving back to Sequim in the summer of 2013 to be near his family.

Mark graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia and continued on to get his AA degree at College of the Sequoias before attending California State University Fresno majoring in Business Administration.

He found his life’s calling by serving the mental health community at various hospitals in Tulare and Kings Counties for many years.

Mark retired as Deputy Public Guardian of Kings County, California, in 2000 but was soon called back by the county to continue to serve as Deputy Public Guardian until 2012.

He was a volunteer for the Lost Girls Motorcycle Club Annual Ride Against Breast Cancer.

Mark, having been saved as a teenager, continued to attend Baptist churches thoughout his life.

He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, at the beach and viewing wildlife.

Nascar, muscle cars and sprint boats were of great interest to Mark. He was also a devoted Seahawks fan to the point of recruiting family members and friends to become part of “The 12th Man”.

Mark’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to his Lodge family, both staff and friends, for their kindness to Mark and assistance to his family.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife Judy Talent Cameron; his father Stanley M. Cameron; grandparents Howard and Eunice Cameron and Roy and Doris Brittain; aunts Bonnie (Brittain) Hehr and Lamona (Brittain) Smith; uncle Don Brittain, and his very close cousin Denny Eshom.

Mark is survived by his mother Doreen (Brittain) Cameron St. Clair; sister Lynda (Cameron) Coventon and her husband Chris Coventon; and nephew Marcus Coventon.

Surviving aunts and uncles Georgia (Brittain) Fraker, Dolly (Brittain Kanig, Joanne (Brittain) and Jack Campbell, Myrna (Cameron) Maples, and Wanda (Cameron) Eshom.

Suriviving great aunt and great uncle Doug and Bonnie (Robb) McInnes and Joanne “Jo” Robb.

Surviving first cousins Sandee (Eshom) Coulter; Vickie Maples; Jamie (Maples) Job; Ron, George, and Randy Fraker; Sherry (Fraker) Seelye; Jeff, Karen and Terry Gossage; Vonnie McKnight; Gina Royal; Dennis and Donna Brittain; Bobby Smith; Susan (Smith) Phipps; Dan and Larry Campbell; and Kathy (Campbell) Matriotti.

As a descendent of several Olympic Peninsula families, Mark is survived by many additional members of the Cameron, Robb and Brittain families who live in the Sequim-Port Angeles area.

Mark is also survived by many close friends and former coworkers in California.

Mark’s sharing of his knowledge with others, his love for his family and friends and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services in Visalia, California and in the Sequim area will be planned for at a later date.

The family plans to install two memorial benches at local sites that Mark enjoyed visiting: the Dungeness Recreation area near his cousin Denny’s memorial bench and Port Williams, the site of the Robb family’s arrival in Sequim in 1909.
