Jimmie Odel Soward

Jimmie Odel Soward of Sequim died of age-related causes on Nov. 27, 2020 at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.

He was 74.

Soward was born Sept. 18, 1946.

Dan George Nellis

Former Sequim resident Dan George Nellis died of lung cancer on Sept. 18, 2020, in Port Orange, Fla.

He was 89.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930, to Wayne and Lucille Nellis in Burbank, Calif.

At the age of 8 he moved to Panama with his father’s employment with the Panama Canal. He grew up in the Canal Zone, completed an electrical apprenticeship and was employed by the Panama Canal. He married Patricia Marie Rudge in 1953 in Cristobal, CZ.

Nellis retired in 1980 and moved to Sequim. He moved to Florida in 2020.

Nellis is survived by: his wife Patricia; children Renee Nellis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Jeanine Frensley of Daytona Beach, Fla., Stephanie Hayes of Cardenas, Panama, and Gordon Nellis of Gilbert, Ariz., as well as three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
