Sandra Lee Frankfurth

April 19, 1946 – October 16, 2024

Sandra Lee Frankfurth was born in Oregon City, Oregon on April 19, 1946 to Roma and Derrell Sharp. She passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 in her home in Sequim, WA with her family by her side.

Sandy grew up on an asparagus farm in the Columbia basin. She was the oldest of five children: Derrell Edward Sharp, Barbara May (Davis), Frank Lessil Sharp, and Roma Suzanne (Seal). Sandy often shared how she grew up learning to water ski on an ironing board behind a horse in an irrigation ditch. She graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1969 and immediately accepted a teaching position at Sequim High School on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. In recent years she was very proud the class of 1973 honored her as their favorite teacher at their 30th class reunion.

In 1972 she resigned as a teacher as her first son Christopher Gerald was born. In 1974 her second son Anthony Derrell was born. For a short time from 1985 until 1990 she returned to teaching while also operating Dungeness Golf Kart storage. In 1991 she started a new venture “Especially for You” cooking and delivering meals to elderly needing additional help. In 2001 she started distributing art for local artist and friend Ross Hamilton. This would continue to grow to include a few more local artists. She treasured the friendships she made with each delivery and was so very proud of every piece of art.

She is survived by her sons Chris and Tony, their families who were the light of her life and many friends. She leaves behind a community she loved so very much and that she was very involved with and proud of. She always made time for people and was very kind and giving to so many. She enjoyed hosting friends and family in her home and was a wonderful cook. After meals she always enjoyed playing games. She loved her work and the people it brought into her life. She had a knack for gardening and restoring old furniture. And, she never drove thru Port Angeles without stopping at Swain’s for popcorn.

There will be a celebration of Sandy’s life, on Sunday March 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM, Field Arts & Event Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles WA 98362.
