He was 77.

Lloyd Marcus Carlson

March 12, 1949 – December 20, 2021

Born March 12, 1949 in Port Angeles and passed December 20, 2021 at home with his true Love, Alyeen, whom he married on November 28, 1993. They had 30 happy years together. There will be a celebration of his life with family and friends at a later date.

Lloyd was a life long resident of the Olympic Peninsula, attending school in Port Angeles and Forks. He worked heavy construction for over 25 years, had a mobile home repair business, managed a mobile home park, drove the large truck to pick up the Sequim Gazette from the printers, and worked for Olympic Synthetics before retiring. He was always busy fixing things or dreaming up a new way to make life better for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Alyeen Carlson, son Jerry Carlson, daughter Shelli Cleveland, step-son James Burchards, step-daughter Jennifer Clark, sister Sharon(Robert) Holman, Mother-in Law, Donna Tyler, Sister-in Law, Charlene Ostlund, and Brother-in-law Richard(Jeanette) Ostlund, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all that knew him, he was one of a kind.

Geraldine Lovett

June 7, 1922 – January 4, 2022

Geraldine “Gerry” Lovett was born and raised in Arvada Colorado, a small town northwest of Denver Colorado, on June 7, 1922. She passed of natural causes on January 4, 2022 at Sherwood Assisted Living in Sequim, WA where she received wonderful loving care during the last four years of her life. After graduating from Arvada High School in 1940 she attended the University of Colorado for two years where she met her future husband, John Lovett. She married John on November 28, 1942 and they had three children together. Following John’s retirement as a pilot for United Airlines they moved to Sequim in 1982. Gerry continued to live in Sequim following John’s death in 2003.

Gerry was an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and a good round of golf. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority at the University of Colorado, a member of the Snappy Snails women’s golf group in San Diego, a member of the United Methodist Church in Sequim and a member and past president of the PEO, Chapter HZ. Her hobbies were playing the piano and organ as well as doing intricate cross stitches.

She is survived by two sons John (Anna Marie) and Roger and by one daughter Sue Anne (Warren) Thomsen, four grand children and three great grandchildren.

Susan Mesches

March 24, 1948 – January 7, 2022

Susan Mesches, age 73, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on January 7th , 2022. Susan was born in Spokane, Washington on March 24th, 1948 to Jack and Dorothy Lynch. She was a graduate of Creighton University and The University of New England. Susan was an elementary school teacher for 23 years after leaving a successful career in banking of 19 years with Bank of the West to follow her passion. She touched the lives of many of her students and their families in Ohio, New York and Colorado where she taught and remained in touch with some even after her retirement from the Boulder Valley School District in 2015.

Susan is survived by her husband, Andy Mesches, whom she was married to for 42 wonderful years. Susan is also survived by her two sons, Andrew in Colorado and Benjamin (Megan) in Arizona. Susan was one of eleven children and is survived by her five brothers and five sisters, their families and many other loving relatives.

Susan enjoyed splitting her time after retirement between Sequim, Washington and Tucson, Arizona. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and baking and was always the perfect hostess.

Since 2015, she was most passionate about her granddaughter, Nora in Arizona and was thankfully able to spend a lot of quality time with her. Susan was a bright light and was kind, funny, generous and supportive to all those fortunate enough to know her. She made a friend wherever she was and left behind many meaningful lifelong friendships.

Susan will forever be missed but will continue to leave her impact on those around her. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the future. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Boys & Girls Club in Sequim or the charity of your choice.

Alice Anderson Rapasky

October 14, 1942 – January 11, 2022

Alice Anderson Rapasky passed away Tuesday January 11, 2022 at Seattle’s Virginia Mason Hospital where she was born October 14th, 1942, after a seven year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Dick and sister Shirley Anderson. After a childhood year in Moscow, Idaho, she grew up in Irondequoit , NY where her father directed the Eastman Kodak Industrial Laboratory in nearby Rochester. She attended Irondequoit public schools and Cornell University graduating with a degree in mathematics. While at Cornell, she developed a strong interest in political science and almost changed majors. After graduating she became a systems engineer for the IBM Corporation at branch offices in New York City and Los Angeles and had systems education assignments in San Jose, California and New York City. Subsequent staff professional and and management assignments focused on product forecasting for IBM’s peripheral and software products.

In December, 1969 she married Francis Richard (Dick) Rapasky. Pursuing parallel IBM careers, they lived in New York City, Los Angeles and Los Gatos, California, and Greenwich, CT. Alice suffered a stroke in 1994 and left IBM. For the next five years Alice coordinated activities at

Parsonage Cottage, an independent living senior residence in Greenwich. After Dick’s retirement in 2000, they moved to Sequim, WA to be closer to her parents and sister.

In Greenwich, Alice was an active member of both the Indian Harbor Yacht Club and the Women’s Fellowship of the Second Congregational Church. She and Dick were recruited to the founding board of the Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony. This chamber music focus moved with them to active support of the Seattle Chamber Music Society, Byron Schenkman and Friends, and the recent establishment of Music on the Strait in Port Angeles, Washington. Alice also actively supported the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Opera and the Port Angeles Symphony. Alice helped found the Sing-It-Yourself Messiah “Handel With Care” in Sequim, was active in Sequim Community Aid and a member of Chapter EP, P.E.O.
