Rolland Douglass Kenitzer Jr.

Rolland Douglass Kenitzer Jr. of Sequim died at his home on June 11, 2018, at the age of 87, from lung cancer.

Kenitzer Jr. was born Aug. 18, 1930.

Marie Olga Simpson

September 12, 1920 – June 3, 2018

Marie Olga Simpson, 97, a long time Sequim resident, passed away June 3, 2018.

Marie was born to Severre Tor Engebretsen and Berthe’ Marie LeDeuivet on September 12th, 1920 in Wallace, Idaho.

After Marie graduated from high school she went on to work as a grocery clerk in Edmonds, Washington.

She met and married the love of her life; William Simpson on December 28th, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. They relocated to Sequim when she and William retired in 1968. Marie and her husband designed and built 5 homes in Edmonds and Sequim for them and their family.

Throughout her life Marie enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing.

Upon moving to Sequim, Marie and her husband kept a flock of black sheep for several years.

Marie was instrumental in establishing the Dungeness Bonsai Club in Sequim and she remained very active in the club for over 20 years.

Marie leaves behind her children; daughter, Connie (Ralph) Adair, and her son, Grant (Patsy) Simpson. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Bryan Simpson, Jeremy Simpson, Curtis Johnson, Eric Johnson, Lily Adair, and Robert Gard, and 11 great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, William Simpson and her son, Larry Gard.

At Marie’s request there was a cremation with cremains placed beside her husband in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
