Dennis C. Dickson

February 23rd, 1946 – May 21st, 2021

Dennis C. Dickson passed away suddenly at home on the evening of 5-21-21.

He was born on 2-23-46 in Toledo, Ohio to Donald B. and Marceline Dickson. He attended Libbey High School and graduated from E.L. Bowsher High School, Bowling Green State University and earned his Juris Doctorate from The University of Toledo. He was with the law firm of Finn, Manahan, Pietrykowski & Pamon in Toledo until he ventured west to Port Angeles, WA., where he worked as a Port Angeles City Attorney until his retirement.

Dennis had a strong sense of community and giving back. Volunteering became his mission during retirement. He has been on the board and/or held officer positions with Peninsula Behavioral Health, Dungeness River Audubon Center, North Olympic Land Trust (NOLT) and Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society (OPAS). Additionally, he was an active member of the Naval Elks #353 and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles.

Dennis loved people, music, cooking, books, birds, history and a good backstory. He never saw a bird that was not the “most beautiful specimen” he had ever seen. And as for the backstory, he could weave a few of his own tales and hold center court.

He was a man of deep faith, kindness, trust and integrity. He loved his family and friends deeply and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Fitzgerald; sister, Dianna Stvartak of Toledo; nephews, Matthew Stvartak (Alissa) of Columbus and Alec Stvartak (Amber) of Port Ludlow; great-nephews, Elliot Stvartak and Julian Stvartak of Columbus; step-sons, Derrek Pratt (Kendra) of Sammamish and Jason Pratt of CA; step grandchildren, Ellie Pratt and Bodie Pratt of Sammamish; best friend, Bill Weinheimer (Deb) of Port Angeles; sister-in-law, Sharon DeFoer of Sequim and last but not least, his beloved yellow lab, Cody.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dungeness River Audubon Center, NOLT, OPAS and/or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life for Dennis will take place at Pioneer Memorial Park in Sequim at 1:00 p.m. on June 12, 2021.
