Nancy Ann Jarmuth Smith

March 22, 1928 – March 7, 2022

Nancy Smith quietly passed away in Sequim on March 7, 2022 of natural causes; just 2 weeks shy of her 94th birthday.

Nancy and family, including her twin sister, Mary, arrived in Sequim when she was 2 years old. The twin girls grew up at the Holland House on Holland Road, what is now known as the Graysmarsh Berry Farm.

Nancy attended Sequim Schools and went on to marry McCoy Smith, also of Sequim.

Nancy and McCoy had six children, all raised in Sequim as well. For many years she played organ weekly for church services at the Presbyterian Church, she was an accomplished cook, seamstress, gardener and a talented artist particularly in pen and ink. She was so good at crossword puzzles she completed them in ink and was an avid game player including competitive bridge, slot machines and golf. Nancy excelled at golf, beginning the game at Peninsula Golf Course in the 1960’s and held the title of club champion at Sunland Golf and Country Club many years in a row.

Nancy and McCoy enjoyed travelling and visited the states of Hawaii and Arizona many times during their years together. After her husband’s passing Nancy accompanied her grown children on an RV caravan through British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and Alaska. Nancy was selected as an Honorary Grand Pioneer for the Sequim Irrigation Festival in 2013, enjoyed riding in the parade and seeing family from near and far.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of almost 61 years, McCoy Smith who passed March 12, 2005, and by her son Larry Dean Smith of Bisbee Arizona, who passed April 29, 2019.

She was also preceded in death by her twin sister Mary Wilkes (2010) Brothers Richard Jarmuth (1987) Robert Jarmuth (2017) and sister Andrea Kuziak (1993).

Nancy is survived by five children, Lance (Jeanie) Smith of Port Angeles, Cheryl (Garland) Frankfurth, Rochelle (Paul) McHugh, Pam (Don) Walker of Sequim and Diane (Chris) Pollard of Woodinville. Grandchildren Justen (Stacy) Smith of Asheville NC, Kevin (Phoung) Smith of Mesa, AZ, Erick Smith of Mesa, AZ, Christopher (Kym) Smith of Conifer, CO, Steven (Melissa) Britsch of Marysville, Brent Britsch of Washington, Kimberly McHugh of Woodinville, Melissa (Jonathan) Short of Bainbridge Island, Michael (Michelle) Pollard of Kirkland, Renée (Andrew) Egeler of Taichung Taiwan, Amy (Chad) Winkle of Redmond, WA, Brandon (Michelle) Brownlee of Kelso, WA, Brett Brownlee of Reno, NV and nineteen greatgrandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. There will be a private family burial at Dungeness Cemetery.
