Helen Alvina (Siemens) Garner

August 24, 1932 – February 16, 2018

Helen Alvina Siemens was born on August 24, 1932, in Forest Park, Illinois, to Nicolai and Helena Siemens. She graduated from Blaine High School in 1950, and earned a teaching degree from the University of Washington in 1954.

Her first teaching job was in Oak Harbor, Washington, where she met Glenn Garner. They were married in 1956, a marriage that lasted 61 1/2 years until Helen’s death.

Helen spent 31 years of her life teaching home economics and history to students in Washington, Oregon, and California. After Glenn and Helen retired, they moved to sunny Sequim, Washington in 1996.

Helen’s interests included Bible study, singing, sewing, gardening, cooking, and serving people, especially family members. She prepared mouth-watering meals and welcomed guests into their home. Helen sewed many of her own clothes and sewed beautiful shirts for Glenn. She also made personalized quilts for family members when they turned 60.

For about 15 years, Helen wrote a weekly H.O.P.E. letter (Helen’s Old People’s Energizer), which she sent to older family members and friends to encourage them.

On February 16, 2018, Helen was promoted to her heavenly home. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants” (Psalm 116:15 niv).

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a young brother who died before her birth, and two sisters, Frieda Siemens and MaryAnn Siemens Cashdollar.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn, brothers Nick Siemens of Montana and Abe Siemens of California, and sisters Erna Craven of Michigan, and Ruth Roetcisoender and Lydia Harris of Washington. She also has numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved her.

The family will gather in Seattle to celebrate her life. Our loss is her gain, so we do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13).

Donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jeffrey James Bracco

December 28, 1968 – January 21,2018

We sadly had to say goodbye to Jeffrey James Bracco, who passed away January 21, 2018, at the age of 49. We lost an amazing person. Jeff accomplished a lot in his short life. He was an excellent photographer, loved nature and won many blue ribbons in photo contests. He was an excellent house painter, carpenter, and had a good eye for details. In his many ventures around the country, he was always able to find common ground with whomever he met.

Being born in Detroit, Michigan on December 28, 1968, he was privileged to meet some of the upcoming hip hop stars we know today such as Eminem, Kid Rock, Uncle Cracker and Joe-C, plus many more. Jeff excelled at dancing, fishing, and crabbing. Even more so he had a big heart and was a friend to all. He was always there when needed by others.

He is survived by his father Bill Bracco, Royal Oak, Michigan, his brother Dominic Bracco, Brooklyn, New York, and sisters; Marcelina Warren, Sylvester, Georgia, and Meghan Sheehan, Auckland, New Zealand.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church at the Parish House.

Any donations can be made to Serenity house in Jeffrey’s name.

Rest in peace my friend. You are gone but not forgotten.
