Glenister M. Morris
January 21, 1924 – November 8, 2017
Glenister M. (Sickels) Morris went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 8, 2017 in New Plymouth, where she was living with her sister, Geraldine Downing.
She was born January 21, 1924 in Athol, KS to Virgil G. Sickels and Elizabeth (Ray) Sickels. They moved to Grant City, MO in 1926 where her brother Donald was born then to Parma, ID in 1932 where her sister Geraldine was born. They moved to Payette, ID around 1933 where she was raised and attended elementary and high school.
In 1940 she married Martin Baars in Payette; they later moved to Portland, Ore., when the war began; he joined the Navy and she went to Business College. During the war she worked in the shipyard as a machinist. After the war she and Martin divorced.
In 1947 she married Steve Roberts of Portland, they lived there and the California area until the early 1950’s when they moved to Spenard, AK where they lived for 21 years. Steve built houses and Glenister worked for Walsh Construction in the office and retired as office manager. They moved to Yuma, AZ and semi-retired. Steve developed Alzheimer’s and she quit her job to stay home to take care of him full time until he passed away.
Glenister later married an old friend, Bob Morris, March 31, 1988 in Yuma, they then moved to Bob’s home town, Sequim, WA where Bob passed away July 31, 1988. Glenister resided in Sequim until 2013 when she moved to New Plymouth to live with her sister Geraldine.
Glenister was a life time member of the Sequim Prairie Grange where she spent many hours working and volunteering in the Grange’s many activities. All her life she was always helping neighbors, friends and relatives when needed. She had a big heart, loved people and life. She was an excellent dancer, very creative and loved to sew. She was the best tour guide Sequim ever had, anyone who visited her got the Royal Treatment, and she planned activities for every day.
She is survived by her sister, Geraldine (Sickels) Downing of New Plymouth, ID; nephews and nieces, Sherry Wells of Sandy, UT, Duane Sickels (Sharon), Donald Sickels (Charlotte) of White Bird, ID, Ronald Sickels (Sue) of Grangeville, ID, Judy Lammle (Tom) of Moses Lake, WA, Gloria Goin (Doug) of Lewiston, ID, Randall Arendell of New Plymouth, ID and Creston Downing of Payette, ID; stepchildren, Pam Warren (Rick) of Payne Creek, CA, Theresa Cleaveland (Terry) of Ontario, OR and Jim Morris (Sherry) of Lancaster, OH.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil G. and Elizabeth Sickels; brother, Donald Sickels (Gladys); brother-in-law, Marlin Downing; nephew, Gary Sickels; and great niece, Holly Sickels.
