Ronald Vincent Johnson

Ronald Vincent Johnson died in Port Angeles, Washington on November 20, 2015. Born June 20, 1929 in Algona, Iowa, to Frank C. Johnson and Myona Whitmarsh. After graduating from Cresco High School, Iowa he enlisted in the US Navy from 1946-1948 achieving the rank of Second Class Petty Officer. While stationed at naval Station Treasure Island, San Fransisco he met and married his sweetheart, Pauline McGregor on August 5, 1950 at Hamilton AFB, California. In 1952, received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in Ames, Iowa. After graduation he moved his young family to Southern California while he commence his post graduate work at University of Southern California.

While in Southern California from 1952-1965, Ronald’s family expanded by 3 while he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company, TelAutograph Corporation, Endix and Data Control Corporation. In 1965 the Johnson family moved to Los Altos, California. For the next 26 years Ronald was a Reliability Assurance Manager for Philico-Ford (a.k.a., Aeronutronic Ford Corporation, Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation, and Loral) in Palo Alto and Sunnyvale locations. Throughout his career he remained actively involved in activities to increase and stretch his knowledge by taking endless work certifications and participating in Dale Carnegie and Toastmasters.

Ronald had a special love of the outdoors particularly family/scouting camping and backpacking trips, fly fishing, growing his vegetables and award winning gladiolus flowers. Throughout his life he provided volunteer service focused on support of his church and scouting including serving as leader, assistant leaders, merit badge counselor, mentor, camp builder, and cook (especially pancake breakfast). In 1973 Ronald was awarded the Silver Beaver from the Stanford Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America in his recognition of over 30 years of service. In 1991 Ron and wife retired to Sequim, Washington, where he remained active in with the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Proceed in death by his parents, his first wife Pauline McGregor, brothers Lewis, Gary and Richard and his second wife, Milly Bjork.

Survived by his wife Maire Breitsprecher; his sons: Ronald P. Johnson of Penn Valley, California; David J. Johnson of the Phillippines, Douglas K. Johnson of Alexandria, VA and his daughter Moira L. Johnson of New York, NY; 5 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter. Sisters: Mildred Buckler and Beverly Hunt of Columbia, Mo. and brother Charles Johnson of Princeton, Texas.

Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Sequim, Washington, on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Internment at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo, California.
