Vicki Lee Sievert

July 25, 1951 – September 5, 2025

Vicki Lee Sievert, known as “Aintvik” to her family, passed away September 5th after a battle with cancer. She was 74.

Born July 25, 1951, Vicki transformed personal tragedy into a life of service to others. After losing her three-year-old son Travis Boone Thayer in 1970, she pursued her A.S.-T Degree in Mathematics at Columbia College. Following her husband James Sievert’s death in 1995 after 21 years of marriage, she became Microsoft certified and discovered her passion for technology and education.

Vicki pioneered online learning at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington, championing accessible education for underserved populations. She served on state boards for Online Learning, developing industry protocols and volunteering countless hours for one-on-one student training. Her students became her family, receiving her generous “big sister” warmth. She retired in 2022, having built a comprehensive program from the ground up.

A passionate supporter of Sequim’s community, Vicki remained a lifelong learner, taking online classes until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara Lee Smith and Joseph Lee Black, siblings Brenda Black, Bobbie Lazzeri, and Joey Black, son Travis, husband James, and beloved cat Petey.

She is survived by sisters Cindi Sue Stewart and Jaeleah Brianne Finlaye, five nephews, three nieces, ten grand-nieces and nephews, and five great-grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration was held Wednesday, September 10th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please remember to vote and donate to your favorite local charity.
