William Norbert Evers

September 8, 1925 – February 9, 2015

Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York, Bill knew at an early age that he wanted to see the world.

When he was seventeen, he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy as an aviation mechanic during WWII. He was stationed in Newfoundland and came back from the war to become an airplane mechanic.

This was to begin his lifelong love of airplanes and travel.

Bill joined Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) in the mid-50’s as a flight dispatcher.

He began his career in Idelwild Airport (now JFK) in New York.

In 1959, he traveled to Stockholm, Sweden where

he met his wife, Inga-Lisa and her two daughters, Berit and Tina.

They were married and soon moved with him to Brooklyn where they lived until 1969 when Bill transferred to Anchorage, Alaska along with his family.

Bill and Inga-Lisa loved Alaska where they traveled extensively throughout the state.

He lived in Anchorage until he retired in 1982 and moved to Sequim with his wife, IngaLisa.

They lived in a home they built and loved on Taylor Cut-Off Road until 2011.

Bill and Inga-Lisa followed their passion to travel the world. They traveled extensively throughout Scandinavia, Asia and Europe and always returned with tales of adventure.

They loved hosting parties in their home which were attended by friends and family from every corner of the world.

Bill was always an easy-going man, known to his friends and family to be an honorable and gentle soul.

He dabbled in hobbies such as banjo playing, bird watching, fly fishing, chess, computers and astronomy, never quite finding the right fit.

He loved the music of his era and was always strumming the tune on his knee.

He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.

Bill leaves a cousin in New Jersey, Nancy Young and her extended family of children, grand-children, nieces and nephews. Also her two daughters, Berit Guerin of Sequim and her son Tory Bridgman of Portland, Maine. Tina Weaver and her husband Richard of Philadelphia, their two children Katelynn Weaver of Mesa, Arizona and Geren Weaver of Philadelphia. Inga-Lisa, the love of his life, passed in November 2011.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Peninsula Friends of Animals to honor Bill’s love for animals. www.safehavenpfoa.org or (360) 452-0414.
