Everyone loves Art Camp! Explore this summer's specialty camps at the Olympic Peninsula YMCA.

Olympic Peninsula YMCA’s specialty camps offer part-day fun in sports, arts, swimming and more for kids across the peninsula

This summer, the Olympic Peninsula YMCA is offering over 15 week-long specialty camps with both morning and afternoon options, across its Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend locations.

The lineup spans sports, arts and STEM, swimming and fitness, giving caregivers an option for partial-day programming for kids that want a purposeful, fun, camp experience.

“These camps are really designed to appeal to specific interests in a small-group setting for the family that wants something enriching and engaging that doesn’t span the entire day,” says Sarah Scagliotti, program executive for youth development at the Olympic Peninsula YMCA. “It’s a week of something your kid can be genuinely excited about.”

This summer’s specialty camp roster runs the full range of kids’ interests, including:

  • Mini Lifeguard (ages 7 to 11) introduces kids to the world of lifeguarding through hands-on pool activities, basic rescue techniques and real-life water safety scenarios, all in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. Only four spots remain.
  • Mighty Movers (ages 7 to 11) is an action-packed week of games, creative challenges and playful fitness activities designed to help kids build strength, coordination and confidence while having fun with peers.
  • Music Makers (ages 5 to 12) invites kids to build their own instruments, learn how they work and experiment with rhythm, melody and sounds from around the world.
  • Ceramics (ages 10 to 14) gives young artists the chance to transform raw clay into whimsical creatures using coil, pinch and slab techniques. No prior experience needed.

Additional specialty camps available this summer include Basketball, Volleyball, Bowling and Pickleball, Yarn and String Art, Puzzle Challenges, Canvas Arts, Clay Creations and Painting, Junior Lifeguard, Synchronized Swimming and Swim Skills, Hiking and additional Mighty Movers sessions.

“Every one of these camps is built around giving kids a chance to grow, connect and discover something new about themselves,” Scagliotti says.

“At the Y, we never want cost to be a barrier,” Scagliotti adds. “We have support available and we encourage families to inquire.”
