2022 Run the Peninsula series kicks off with Elwha Bridge run/walk

The Run the Peninsula series is once again ready to race.

The 2022 series that includes five events across the Olympic Peninsula kicks off Saturday, Feb. 5, with the Elwha Bridge 5k/10k Run Walk.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., an estimated 350 participants will run and walk east on the Olympic Discovery Trail starting at the Elwha Bridge before turning around at the 5k and 10k turn-around and head back east.

As of Monday, Jan. 31, there is registration space available register at runthepeninsula.com. Registration closes at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4. If spaces are available, participants can register on-site.

Cost is $40 and includes a race-specific medal, tumbler and race bib. Get a discount when signing up for multiple races.

There is no parking on site; all parking will be at Extreme Sports Park, 2917 W. Edgewood Dr., Port Angeles, and Black Ball buses will run starting at 7:30 a.m. Participants can also be dropped off at the west side of the Elwha Bridge in the designated “drop-off area.”

Proceeds from this event goes to several local organizations including the Peninsula Trails Coalition who build and maintain the trail.

This event is put on by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, the same group that manages the North Olympic Discovery Marathon in June in Port Angeles.
