Adult baseball league opens registration

Registration for the 2008 Olympic Peninsula Baseball Association’s ninth season is under way.

Adults ages 19+ are eligible to register and all experience levels are accepted. Interested players have until April 19 to sign up and will undergo a draft on April 20. Roster spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The association is affiliated with the nationally-recognized Men’s Senior/Adult Baseball League and is the only adult hardball league operating on the Olympic Peninsula. The 2008 season is expected to be 20 games long, from June 7-Aug. 31, with teams normally playing twice a week. The season also will feature the annual All-Star Game the last week in July.

Cost for new players in 2008 is $350 and includes all registration and membership fees, liability insurance, equipment fees, field usage fees, umpire fees and a customized pro-style uniform.

Interested players may pick up registration forms at Big 5 Sports, 171 Valley Center Place, Sequim; Sequim Baseball batting cages, 775 W. Washington St.; Swain’s General Store, 602 E. First St., Port Angeles; and the city of Port Angeles Park & Recreation Office, 321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
